Fuckin' Hilarious...

Hat Tip to multiple, multiple sources. Damnyouautocorrect.com

 Autocorrect. Awesome.

If you struggle with your iPhone's autocorrect feature (and, let's be honest, we all do), then you know that this particular "feature" very often results in far more gaffes, socially-awkward moments, and tersely embarassed apologies of anything this side of drunk dialing. Words pop up in permutations that make you look like a madman. However, even worse, is Autocorrect's apparent fixation with Anal and Dildos...as the program substitutes your word choices freely for things of a scatological nature.

Go pay them a visit, minions. But, for now, please enjoy some excerpts of truly laugh-till-you-cry/piss yourself-funny texting FAIL.

Hope that got your weekend off to a great start.

Lookie who posted about a celebrity...

I know, not normally my bag. But, I must say, this is pretty damned amusing.

via Funny or Die. H/T JoshuaNotYoshua.

Not really a Lohan fan, and never really saw the appeal in her. However, there's something about the little ingenue in her in this videa that A) is pretty hot, and B) gives her mad, mad props for making fun of her constantly-rotating relationships.

Okay, I apologize. You are hot in a dirty sort of way...and surprisingly funny.

Something to offend everyone...

I don't know how I missed this, the Jesus is a Jerk Tumblr. Needless to say, it is probably one of the funniest, yet wholly inappropriate places on the web.

Pay them a visit, or play along, but, in the meanwhile check out some of this...and, yes, you're going to Hell...

Who knew?

Mystik Spiral knew, of course, that Tuesday could be this busy. Presenting the criminally forgotten "Daria", with her brother Trent's band, "Mystik Spiral".

I'm just sad that the track "Little Sister" doesn't have a video.

Does anybody know? Does anybody know why we're here? Excellent lyrics, and right up there with the lyrics to this lil' diddy, "Every Dog Has Its Day" (f. such lines as "you ate up all my kibble").

Cracked on Ingmar Bergen

Paging Antonius Block...

I love me a good Bergman film; grainy black and white movies, usually with the incomparable Max von  Sydow, beautiful women, two hours in the dark exploring the post-modern crises of faith in a cold, uncaring universe. Cracked has a beta topic index, where readers can create their own sort of dick joke Wiki.

The entry RE: Ingmar Bergen is some special kind of awesome. Be sure to check out the full entry, but below is a snippet of the Bergen Drinking Game

Now that you know everything you need to know about Ingmar Bergman, you can Netflix a few of his movies and play this game with your buddies:
One Drink
  • a character appears in a mirror
  • two characters have a dialogue while at least one is staring an the abyss
  • Max von Sydow murders someone who totally deserved it
  • Something makes no fucking sense
Two Drinks
  • a character questions the existence of God
  • a character has a moral crisis
  • Sven Nykvist is a genius

Well done. Well done.

I don't always drink beer,

...But when I do, I swim in the meme pool.

Because you'd have to...

I see the frat boys got out on work release...

Friday got a new secretary...

Mr. Shadow had to go hiring in this buyer's market. So, that minor stress is alleviated, and, making matters better, it's Friday.

All in all, a good end to the week, the fiscal quarter, and the calendar year, I must say.

Take it away Lonely Island.
Just another Friday at da' office for Der Schatten

Hot n' Horny with the TSA

Anyone familiar with this blog knows I take several pet projects on, and then beat them like a drum; especially policing tactics which are burdensome/dangerous/lethal. The latest rants are naturally focused on the TSA's aptly-named "Rapiscans" and the junk-touching called "security".

Luckily, Andy Samberg and crew are here to provide me a little comic relief. It's that or peasants n' pitchforks, if ya' know what I mean.

Via Hulu (c) 2010 to some entity(ies), I'm sure.

So, you went to law school...

Last week, I repub'd Wahoo Corner's excellent YouTube video "So, you want to go to law school". To say this video has gone viral in legal circles is just a slight underestimation, and -frankly- does no justice to the word viral.  The power of the simple 5-minute snark is that it is painfully true, as well as darkly satirical, as we explore Carrie-Ann Fox has her questions answered from the jaded, legal veterans about the career and interpersonal toll of the law.

The Corner's newest effort, I am very pleased to report, has Suzy in law school. Thus far, there are two installments of "So, You Want To Go To Law School: The Series".

Episode One: Wherein Carrie-Ann Fox meets with her 2L mentor and is told the hard facts of life as a 1L.

* * *
Episode Two: The first day of 1L, wherein Carrie-Ann discovers the malevolence of the Socratic Method, and makes a nemesis of Prof. Walker in Civ Pro.

This video will likely be republished tomorrow. It relates to my own nemesis, also a Civ Pro professor, and the enmity which included several nasty words and almost came to blows.

God, I love the Oatmeal

If you've never been to the Oatmeal, you owe it to yourself to check it out. While only updated every week or so, each post is a pearl of wisdom, wit and juvenile humor that stands alone.

Today's post, for instance, is a quick Flash quiz,

How many Justin Biebers could you take in a fight?
Created by Oatmeal

I really think I could take more than 28 Biebers...

But, there are some alltime classics, such as the "Motherfucking Pterodactyl" and "Zombie Apocalypse".

Peter Nguyen Strikes Again...and Belgian Beer!

Let's just go ahead and get the Belgium portion of this post out of the way, just as I promised, every post today with feature Beglium/Belgian products...Here are Lambic beers, specifically a "framboise" or raspberry beverage. This is almost better than sex. As much as I love German brewers, Belgium nudges them out as the best in the world.

Yesterday, I posted an epic essay by a Mr. Peter Nguyen (who I devoutly hope is either a published author or a lawyer).  Here is the rest of his published/publishable corpus of essays. What he lacks in rote learning, he certainly makes up for in creativity and an eye for popular culture and modern history.

Young Peter tackles World History, specifically Christopher Columbus...

Our wordsmith intimates that Jesus was really Doctor Who...

Finally, our hero makes it to college, but does not abandon his humor...

Peter, if you're out there, drop me an email, and let me know if you're --as I suspect-- either an attorney or an axe murderer (although, in fairness, these are not mutually exclusive categories).

Tasteless Part One: Some of my favorite things...

Back when I was a'courting, I thought I'd introduce a lady to my brand of humor; raunchy, tasteless, dead babies, jokes invoking every sort of -ism imaginable because I think we all need to laugh at ourselves (or others, if you're just feeling cruel). So, as we would IM one another during law school classes, at night, drankin', etc., I'd send her some kick-ass (imho) pics.

Here is the first part of this tasteless dump.

We can all get behind the proper way to squelch the squawking of the babes...

The look on this kiddo's face is priceless; everyone loves the chest-burster alien...

Too soon?

This undoubtedly will be the cover shot for the new Texas Science/Social Studies textbook...

wittiest thing I've heard in a long while...

One of the most evil creatures on God's green earth...

Good ole' Omaha/Council Bluffs; one of the few places in America with the Black Squirrel. They are some of the most evil, territorial, aggressive rodents I've ever seen in my life. If an animal can actually have a "fuck you" look; if an herbivore could actually stalk, it would be the black squirrel. They are also hella' cute.
Nothing like a black squirrel.
However, they are also very destructive, to the point that they make puppies look well-behaved. In the Lincoln, NE area, the neighbors are literally getting eaten out of house and home as the critters have gnawed through roofs, siding, devastated the flora, and, in one case, chewed through brake lines. Some locals got pissed with the whole squirrel destruction bit and have taken to hunting them with -no shit- crossbows. As you can imagine, the cops don't take kindly to discharging 14th century weapons in residential neighborhoods, and charged the folks with misdemeanor weapons violations.

But, the truly witty remark comes from one of the locals, herself a victim of the onslaught, who disagreed with shooting the critters. And, this remains one of the driest, darkly comedic statements I've read in a while:

“I’m not for shooting squirrels myself,” said Lisa Innis. “I prefer to ask them to leave. It apparently does no good at all.”

 ZZZZZZIIIIINNNNNGGGGGG!!!!

The grim profession...

Referring, of course, to law. Besides medicine (and sometimes exceeding our friends at the AMA), there are few jobs as taxing as being an attorney, and few things that implicate the totality of a person's life like the law can. Deprivation of liberty, deprivation of fisc, vindication of rights: It's all a big deal.

Because of this, the law (and lawyers) can be a bit grim, and decidedly cynical. You are dealing, after all, with people, in all of their decidedly fucked up glory and pathos. In that case, then the law is just damned funny.

When emotions run high, what better way to show someone they're a dick than fake an assault...in open court.

What better way to thwart that civil suit than announce, under oath, at the deposition that you're going to lie?

Sometimes lawyers get sued, and are then deposed...It's like losing your "cherry"

You've heard that if you can't afford an attorney, one will be provided for you? You should take the court up on that...It beats faking a heart attack.

This is how NOT to answer a deposition question when you've been busted lying...

And, the CLASSIC deposition fight between in-house counsel, plaintiff's bar and the defense attorney. Everything is bigger in Texas...including the assholes...

I felt so good, and tingly, and alive...

Sure, it's homemade, but dammit, this is funny.
Also, tomorrow, be sure to check out the assload of deposition and courtroom foibles the Shadow will have on tap; proving that the law can be uniquely entertaining for its pathos.

Why Monty Python will always be cooler than you...

I truly believe that there are no sacred cows. The best way to confront life's uncertainties, or certainties -as the case may be, is to mock them: religion, poverty, classism, medical conditions, racism, sexism, geopolitical strife, evil, inhumanity, crimes, etc...the first step to defusing these little bombs in our midst is to mock them.

Like this...

Bestiality + death = comedy

However, very few people before or since, have made such guileless fun out of our quirks like the guys in Monty Python. When Graham Chapman passed away in 1989, at the too-early age of 48, John Cleese and Eric Idle could have given him a proper, expected send-off. Instead, they eulogized him the way that Chapman deserved, and how we all should go out: smiling through the tears.

See, Death is funny...as long as you look on the bright side of life

Honkeys, the First Amendment, Liberals and Federalism

What the fuck is this thing?

I'm not big on First Amendment doctrine*: Every doe-eyed, milksop, do-gooder, limousine liberal motherfucker** that enters law school invariably blasts out a douchy line to the effect of "Ooooh, I want to work at the ACLU" followed up by something to the effect of free speech. Here's where the failings are in that:

1. First Amendment doctrine is not old school "Fuck the Draft" stuff anymore, and protected rights of civil expression; you're far more likely to wind up fighting over a city councilman's draft proposal of their own Sunshine Law.
2. Those cases, in any event, just don't come down the pipe very often...Tinker v. Des Moines is a once in a generation deal
3. If you really, truly, sincerely give a shit about constitutional law, and the constitution, and how this document truly affects your life and practically everything else, then -sincerely- you need to pay far more attention to federalism/dormant commerce/commerce clause doctrines*** and, especially, to separation of powers issues as pertains to the Executive's administrative powers. Agencies run our lives kids, not Congress...

Limousine Liberals in their natural environment: Spending money from mommy and daddy's trust account. And, being painfully, hopelessly white.

That said, sometimes, something truly amazing comes down the pipe RE: First Amendment issues. The Onion has some outstanding reporting on the recent 7-2 decision that came down in City of Charleston v. The Kanawha Players

The decision came Monday in response to the case of a Charleston, WV theater troupe that had been sued by city officials for staging a sexually explicit play with public funds. Reversing the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals' decision, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the theater, an outcome free-speech advocates are calling a victory and Justice Ginsburg called "a bitch-slap in the face of all those uptight limp-dicks.

Justice Ginsburg: Gangsta' for free expression...
Via the Onion

But, perhaps the most vociferous defense of the obscene speech came from departing Justice Stevens, the last bastion of the Court's left wing:

"I'm beginning to wonder if you really understand what 'abridging the freedom of speech' means at all," said Stevens, a 34-year veteran of the court known for his often-nuanced interpretations of the First Amendment. "I'm also wondering whether you and your fat-faced plaintiffs over there need to have some respect for constitutionally protected expression fucked into your empty hick skulls."

Surprisingly, (or not-so, given his love of dirty talk and pubes on soda cans), Justice Thomas likewise forcefully defended the WV Player's rights to make a few dick jokes:

"I don't know what kind of bullshit passes for jurisprudence down in the 4th Circuit these days," Thomas wrote. "But those pricks can take their arguments about speech that 'appeals only to prurient interests' and go suck a dog's asshole."

Yo baby, ever seen a German Tan
Wink. Wink.

The whole article is sit-your-pants funny. Sometimes the Onion just knocks it right out the park. Go there...Now, minion.

* Do you want to know what makes Baby Jesus sad? There are actually five rights promised by the First Amendment (herein, I refer to free speech). They are: Speech, Assembly, Press, Free Exercise of religion and anti-Establishment of religion by the government. That's cool. The sad part is that A) less than 10%  of U.S. Citizens know this...and B) 22% of U.S. citizens can name all five "Simpsons".

** For the record, I am so damned far to the left that Trotsky is a statist pig in my eyes...that said, I do not like squishy liberals who compromise on their values, are utterly humorless and self-absorbed, and, in any event, toe a doctrinaire line that would make Kim Jong-Il grin from the great beyond in its mousy obsequiesness.

*** Nerd confession; I have published some pretty expansive academic pieces on these topics. Shhhh. Don't tell anyone.

These footnotes, hell, this whole blog, makes Baby Jesus sad...
